Winter Horseback Riding in Estes Park, CO
Come ride with us year round at the historic Elkhorn Stables. The trails and mountains are beautiful with snow on them. Dress in layers because we might have snow falling, sun shining, or wind blowing.
Year Round Trail Rides
Estes Park Horse Back Rides are offered 365 days a year, weather permitting. We trail ride every day unless the weather conditions make it impossible to go out. Just because there's snow on the ground, doesn't mean we can't have a great time out there! In fact, winter is one of the most beautiful seasons here in Estes Park - with scenic trail rides overlooking the snow capped Rocky Mountains. You will want to dress in layers, which ever season you plan to join us because the Colorado sun can be very warm - even in the winter - but the wind can pick up at a moment's notice. Layers are also good for summer rides. For summer, a sun hat is nice, but not necessary. We are lucky to get a lot of bright sun all year round, so sunscreen is always recommended. You will definitely want to bring your camera! There will be plenty of opportunities during your scenic trail ride for mountain photography. You might even see elk, mule deer, coyotes, bighorn sheep, bobcats or bears during your ride!
We Know Horses
Horseback riding with O'Dell's Stables transports you into the real west. From the historic lodge to the jingle of spurs, O'Dell's Stables transports you to a time when cattle was a way of life. O'Dell's provides the best wranglers in town with years of horse experience including teaching riding lessons and rodeo riding.
Where do we ride?
We ride trails on the historic Elkhorn Lodge property located on the west end of Estes Park and bordering Rocky Mountain National Park. Our horseback rides feature spectacular views of the Continental Divide, pass just under the nose of Old Man Mountain, and showcase the wild and historic scenery of the Estes Valley.
How old do you need to be to ride?
Children ages 2 and up may take pony rides led by a wrangler. Children ages 3-5 may ride double with a parent or legal guardian. Independent horseback rides, depending on experience and comfort level, are for children ages 6 and up.
